About Us...
How does the Orono Alliance work?
The Orono Alliance is an independent 501(c)3 organization (Tax ID #41-1974305) that provides grants to the Orono Schools in
accordance with donor's request and with the needs of the schools as a priority.
The Orono Alliance serves as an umbrella for the Orono Education Fund (OEF), the Annual and Endowment
Funds and the Timothy Cashin Memorial Fund. These Funds were created by generous donations from the
community in support of enhanced learning opportunities for Orono Students.
Our large group of committed volunteers work together to raise substanial amounts of money for the Orono Schools.
And our part-time staff provides the professional management and direction needed to succeed.
Since 2000, the Alliance has provided over $1,000,000 to the Orono Schools to reduce class size and
enhance curricular options for students.

Objectives
The fundraising goals of the Alliance are two-fold and include the following benchmarks:
- Annual Fund revenue in excess of $500,000
- Significant progress toward achieving a $10 million endowment position at the 10 year mark.

Building Alliance
The Alliance will offer affiliation to other organizations that provide direct support to the Orono schools. The purpose of such an affiliation includes increased and more comprehensive communication; a cooperative approach to fundraising, meeting/event schedules; and a sharing of resources. A cooperative association with organizations who choose not to participate as a recognized Alliance member will also be considered a successful relationship.

Recognition and Participation
The Alliance will measure a portion of its success based on participation by the community and other organizations. Participation includes financial contributions as well as volunteer hours. The board of directors and advisory bodies will be actively engaged in the pursuit of our objectives.

Bruce Dayton
"The final test of a leader is that he leaves in others the conviction and the will to carry on."
~ Walter Lippman
The Orono Alliance for education applauds the generosity of all the donors who have made contributions to both the Annual and Endowment Funds. It is with particular graditude that we thank Bruce and Ruth Dayton not only for their donation to the Annual Fund to help address current needs within our schools, but also for their leadership in making the initial contribution to the Endowment Fund.

As long-time residents of our area, the Daytons are aware that the funding shortfalls being experienced here in Orono schools, and many other districts, won't be solved overnight. Their leadership in helping establish the Orono Alliance for Education Endowment Fund is key to ensuring a strong future for the Orono Schools and for the entire community.
Please consider a contribution to both the Annual and Endowment Funds when you are planning your gifting for this year. Each of these avenues of support for our schools will have a direct impact on the positive school experience of students both today and tomorrow.
