Where the Money Goes...
The Alliance fundraises throughout the year in order to provide the Orono Schools with grants. This grant money is used to support and anhance the educational opportunities available to Orono schools.
Since our inception in 2000, the Orono Alliance has provided more than $1.4 million to the Orono Schools.

6 Teacher positions for the 2005-2006 school year
5.5 Teacher positions for the 2004-2005 school year

While the Alliance's funds go to help throughout the school district where support is needed most, we also assist other groups, foundations, and parents who wish to provide specific support to specific programs in the Orono schools:
In association with the Orono Education Fund, we have helped raise and grant:
$50,000 in Scholarships to graduating seniors
nearly $47,000 to teachers for Classroom Grants
new equipment (Defibrillators and an LCD projector), and physical support (a new auditorium floor and a new sound system for the High School).
In association with parents and their family foundations, we have helped coordinate:
expanding language options in the high school both through a new language lab and a Latin program.
enhancing a "Personal Academics" curriculum to provide anti-bullying programs, drug education, and personal development initiatives.
