Memorial Funds & Designated Gifts
Memorial and designated gift funds are separate from the unrestricted dollars raised each fiscal year to fund the annual grant to the Orono schools.
Some funds are given to the Orono Alliance for specific projects associated with the school that are within the mission of the Orono Alliance and that the school administration has approved. The Orono Alliance receives and administers these project funds for the designated purpose. To memorialize the death of a loved one, or celebrate a milestone in a loved one’s life, some funds are created by donors in their loved one’s name. The Orono Alliance makes grants from these funds for purposes that are within the mission of the Orono Alliance and that honor the memory of the fund’s namesake in a meaningful way. Our Designated Gifts Policy governs our administration of and grants from these types of funds.
